Looking Closer At Left Handed Golf Players
We can't accuse the golf club manufacturers for focusing on their most prosperous market of right-handed golf players, but it is quite hard for those golfers who play left handed to get the options available to the mainstream players.
I have known a couple of golf players who made the change early on by training to play right handed but yet this is impractical for most people. You have to be playing in the most normal way possible and if that means left handed in that case so be it.
Sad to say with everything these days it all comes right down to economics and also profitability and there simply isn't enough income to be made for most manufacturers in the left-handed industry.
The ratio of left handed players to right handed golf players is somewhere around 8 percent so the industry is very small, although it is a target market that some suppliers are focusing on albeit at more cost in most cases.
But there is always a silver lining to the issues that we may come across.
At a recent tournament function, I was introduced to an old chap who was playing on a low disadvantage and had done this for many years. Throughout the conversation he talked about left-handed clubs and the fact that he had started playing left handed in the beginning.
He hadn't learnt how to play from an expert and had grown some bad methods.
After a while, because of frustration with his game and the inadequacy to source the golf clubs he wanted to, he enlisted some professional aid. After much dialogue it was decided that he should try out playing right handed and the golf professional would provide him with the necessary training.
It was a blessing as he was effectively starting from scratch and he learned the way to play golf without any of the horrible techniques that he had developed on his own. The switch from left to right, in addition to the professional training had held him in good steed throughout his golf playing life.
Indeed, it was a huge decision that most golfers wouldn't do, but you will never beat a golf player at trying to further improve his performance no matter what steps they might do.
